On July 25-26, 15 students and 5 professors from Chulalongkorn University (Thailand) came to Keio University for lectures and a workshop on Butoh, an avant-garde form of dance founded by Tatsumi Hijikata in 1950s Japan that has become a world-renowned dance style. The group was first introduced to Butoh through a lecture by Rosa van Hensbergen, who is a visiting researcher from Cambridge University, and were also given a tour of the Hijikata Tastumi Archive at the Keio University Art Center. The workshop was led by acclaimed Butoh dancer Seisaku, who trained under Hijikata Tatsumi from 1984 till his death in 1986. At the end of the second day, the Chulalongkorn University group put on a dance performance at the North Hall on Keio’s Mita Campus, incorporating some of the things they had learned over the two-day program
