Enriching Human Development

We aim to contribute to the distillation of new artistic and cultural sensitivities and to the emergence of a flexibility of value systems appropriate to an advanced society. We also aim to shape creative personalities.

Trans-Art

Contemporary art is not confined to distinct genres, but engaged in the development of collaborations (cooperative ventures) that straddle various spheres. While keeping in mind the history and tradition of artistic activities, we also seek to investigate innovations that arise in the discursive exchanges and “sites” of a trans-art practice, and attempt to construct artistic theories oriented towards the future.

Information Concerning Art

In today’s cultural environment, the overabundance of information has a tendency, at times, to render humans into an insensate condition. Therefore, our task is to collect and present as well as receive and transmit information on artistic materials in a coherent manner, while including adjacent areas into our field of vision. By studying the role and significance that information has with respect to culture, we aim to present new proposals on our public treasures and archives.

Arts Management

At a moment when there is an increasing appeal for artistic activities to become communal, we must develop a variety of methods and knowledge in order to fulfill this practice. We endeavor to go beyond simple business methods and practical expertise, and construct a philosophy that re-investigates the significance of art in contemporary society.

Open Forum

One cannot think of acquiring contemporary knowledge and experience without forming new types of encounters, for example, through “dialogues” that take information media as their stage or “workshops” based upon a shared corporeal environment. We aim to promote research, education, and the practice of these activities through open forums that present collaborative projects and exchanges between a variety of groups, organizations, and individuals. We aim to include individuals and groups both from within and outside the university, domestically as well as internationally.
