Published by KUAC: Tracing 30 Years of the Keio University Art Center through its Publications
The Keio University Art Center (KUAC) celebrated its 30th anniversary in October 2023. This spring, journey back through the center’s history and explore the publications that KUAC has released to date.
"Publications” are, as the word indicates, a way for the organizations putting them out to become “public.” The things expressed and preserved in published materials, as well as the format and choices made about how they are released, paint a portrait of the positions and ideas that the publisher holds. In its 30 years, KUAC has produced several publications, some of which continue to run regularly—its annual reports, the ARTLET newsletter, Booklet (a series of special focus issues)—while others have taken on different forms in response to the times. In addition, the center has published many other materials, such as exhibition catalogs created after the installation of its exhibition room.
By displaying these publications and showing their evolution, the exhibition guides visitors through KUAC's 30-year history while looking ahead to the future.
