Treasures from Century Cultural Foundation: The Art at Peace -- Early Edo Culture thorough Books
The fall of Toyotomi-Family in 1615 brought about the peace which is called "Genna-Enbu". The word "Enbu" means putting arms in a warehouse and comes from "Shokyo". It is ordinary that the period of "Bun" (pens and peace) comes after the period of "Bu" (arms and war), represented as "Enbu-Shubun". While the culture of Azuchi-Momoyama has something momentary and decadance, the early Tokugawa does not have such brilliance, but wholesomeness and calmness. Commemorating the 400th anniversary from "Genna-Enbu", we exhibit mainly the books of early Edo-period. Please appreciate them with feeling the beuaty of the peace.
