【In Memoriam】Architect Fumihiko Maki

Maki not only attended Keio University in his youth but later became renowned as an architect, designing various buildings at Keio University, including the library and graduate school building in Mita Campus, and another library in Hiyoshi. His designs for the Shonan Fujisawa Campus, in particular, received high praise internationally as a significant example of his "group form" concept.

Moreover, at the Art Center, we held an exhibition titled "Fumihiko Maki and Keio University," showcasing his architectural works there in 2021 and 2022.

During the first exhibition, Maki himself visited and warmly shared memories of those times, leaving a lasting impression with his amiable personality.

We express our gratitude to Maki for leaving behind splendid works that reflect modernism not only at Keio but around the world. Our heartfelt condolences.
