Junzaburo Nishiwaki, the 11th Ambarvalia symposium "Poetry is waiting to be translated?! "

This year marks the 11th symposium traditionally held around January 20 in commemoration of Junzaburo Nishiwaki’s birthday.
The title for this year’s symposium is “Poetry is waiting to be translated?!” By interrogating this theme and asking “is this really the case?” We hope to tie this discussion in with Junzaburo Nishiwaki’s understanding of poetry. With invited experts in French literature, translation, and English literature set to attend, this symposium represents a rare opportunity to hear their thoughts on the challenges of Junzaburo Nishiwaki and translation.
The speakers shared some very interesting insights from their respective fields of expertise. Many people watched the talk online, and we are grateful for the positive response. We would like to thank Dr. Shunichi Niikura for donating the valuable Nishiwaki materials.
We were saddened to hear of the death of Dr. Toshikazu Niikura in August last year, who donated the valuable Nishiwaki materials to the Art Center, but we hope to carry on his legacy.
