Experience

Professor & Curator, Keio University Art Center (2006-2009: Associate Professor& Curator)    2006-present

  • Curate and organize exhibition held at Keio University Art Space since it built in 2011. In 5-year program Contemporary Eyes featured: H. Fulton, B. McLean, D. Buren, S. Brouwn, I. Knoebel, B.Palermo.
  • Art Archive activities: set up Keio University Architecture Archive, engaged in other archival mission at Art Center.  Organize symposium on art archives and promote to encourage the active discussion on archives. 
  • Give lectures on Contemporary Art, Museum Materials, Art Archives.

Curator, Museum of Contemporary Art, Tokyo (1992-95: Preparation Office)    1992-2005

  • Curated exhibition: Revolution: Art of the 60s(1995), On the Earth (2003), etc. Research and write about D. Buren, Dan Graham, Gilbert & George. Had strong interest and researched on art from end of 1960s to early 1970s.
  • Mainly belongs to Exhibition Department but also belongs to Collection department for about 3 years.
  • 8 months research at Oxford in 2002. Especially on Sculpture Department of St. Matins School of Art. (Received Grant for Curators from Japanese Associations of Art Museums).

Curator, Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum    1987-1992

  • Curated exhibition: Structure and Remembrance: Toya, Enco, and Kenmochi (1991) (first curated exhibition, featuring 3 Japanese artists who used wood materials).
  • Assist many exhibitions included Japan 1920s, covering not only fine art but design, architecture, dance etc.
  • As the museum contained excellent Japanese contemporary art collection and library, could built firm base as a curator. The collection moved to Museum of Contemporary Art as it has opened.
